The Rydgo Merino Liner Socks are a minimalist construction using the finest Merino wool available in the Rydgo range — a thin, lightweight sock designed for use as either a standalone warm-weather active liner or as an inner layer within the multi-sock system used in cold-weather boot activities including hiking, ski touring, and winter mountaineering. The liner’s primary function in a layering system is moisture transport: positioned against the skin, the Merino liner rapidly wicks perspiration away from the foot surface toward its outer face where the outer sock’s thicker construction can absorb and dissipate the moisture, keeping the skin surface dry for the duration of the activity. Skin dryness during prolonged cold-weather boot activity is not a comfort preference but a physiological requirement — wet skin against a sock surface creates friction coefficient conditions that initiate blister formation in a fraction of the contact time that dry skin requires, making moisture transport at the skin interface the single highest-priority function in any cold-weather foot system. The 90% Merino wool / 10% nylon blend uses extra-fine 17.5-micron fiber that produces a lightweight fabric with no detectable prickle sensation on sensitive skin — coarser Merino at 19-21 microns is used for thicker constructions but is inappropriate for the skin-contact application of a liner sock. The construction is a flat knit without terry loop or added thickness — maintaining minimum profile inside the outer sock without creating pressure points.
